Looking for a convenient way to earn attractive fixed deposit returns without visiting a bank branch? 💰
CIMB Malaysia’s eFixed Deposit/-i (eFD/-i) October 2026 Campaign offers promotional rates of up to 3.90% p.a., with a minimum single placement of just RM1,000. Placements can be completed online through CIMB Clicks Web or the CIMB OCTO App.
Revised-rate offer: 9 October to 3 November 2026. CIMB’s wider October eFD/-i campaign originally began on 29 September 2026, offering rates of up to 3.83% p.a. The revised rates took effect on 9 October, lifting the highest available return to 3.90% p.a. For the earlier rates and tenors, refer to the original October 2026 CIMB eFD/-i promotion article. Placements can be funded through CIMB CASA/-i, DURIAN-i or another bank’s current/savings account via FPX.
💹 CIMB eFD/-i promotional rates from 9 October 2026
Check the revised campaign rates below before selecting a placement tenor. The following rates apply to eligible new placements made from 9 October until 3 November 2026, subject to CIMB’s campaign requirements.
| Deposit product | Placement tenor | Promotional rate |
|---|---|---|
| eFD | 3 months | 3.55% p.a. |
| eFD | 7 months | 3.85% p.a. |
| eFD | 12 months | 3.90% p.a. |
| eFD | 15 months | 3.90% p.a. |
| eFD-i (Maturity Returns) | 10 months | 3.85% p.a. |
📌 Important rate distinction: The highest 3.90% p.a. rate applies only to conventional eFD placements of 12 or 15 months. For Shariah-compliant eFD-i (Maturity Returns), the highest promotional rate is 3.85% p.a. for 10 months. Each eligible placement requires at least RM1,000 in a single transaction. These are annualised rates, so shorter tenors earn proportionately less than a full year’s return.
What’s changed? CIMB increased its conventional eFD rates from 3.40% to 3.55% p.a. for three months, from 3.80% to 3.90% p.a. for 12 months, and from 3.83% to 3.90% p.a. for 15 months. A new seven-month eFD option at 3.85% p.a. and a 10-month eFD-i (Maturity Returns) option at 3.85% p.a. are also available under the revised structure. The earlier seven-month eFD-i promotional option at 3.70% p.a. is no longer listed for placements under the revised rates.
📌 Important: The revised rates apply from 9 October 2026 and do not retrospectively change the campaign rates of placements completed before that date. Promotional rates are subject to CIMB’s applicable campaign terms and any subsequently announced changes.

Who is eligible for the campaign? 👤
CIMB’s promotional eFD/-i campaign is available to eligible new and existing customers who meet the following requirements:
- Individuals aged 18 years and above.
- Eligible CIMB Group staff, including contract and probationary employees.
- Eligible sole-proprietorship customers.
- An active CIMB Clicks account must be maintained during the campaign period.
- An active CIMB CASA/-i or DURIAN-i must also be maintained with CIMB.
- Placements must be made through the approved online campaign channels for one of the qualifying tenors, with at least RM1,000 in a single transaction.
Who is excluded? Customers classified by CIMB under SME/enterprise banking, commercial banking or corporate banking are excluded. These may include partnerships, private limited companies, public listed companies, charities, societies and professional partnerships. Individuals below 18 are also ineligible. Although sole-proprietorship customers are expressly included in the eligibility criteria, those with an unclear business-banking classification should confirm eligibility with CIMB before proceeding.
🆕 New to CIMB? Eligible first-time customers may participate once the required active CIMB Clicks account and eligible CIMB CASA/-i or DURIAN-i relationship are established. Begin with CIMB’s online account opening page and complete the necessary account activation requirements before making a promotional deposit placement.
📱 How to place CIMB eFD/-i online
Choose between CIMB Clicks Web and the CIMB OCTO App for an eligible promotional placement. The available funding methods include transfers from an eligible CIMB account or FPX transfers from another bank.
- Visit the official CIMB eFD/-i campaign page to access the relevant promotional placement options.
- For CIMB Clicks Web, select the appropriate direct promotional placement link from CIMB’s promotion page or use an eligible campaign electronic direct mailer (eDM). The eDM route is available only to recipients of the relevant CIMB eDM.
- Alternatively, open the CIMB OCTO App, tap Apply and select Fixed Deposit or Fixed Deposit-i – Maturity Returns, as applicable.
- Choose an eligible promotional tenor and enter a single placement of at least RM1,000.
- Select the funding source, either an eligible CIMB CASA/-i or DURIAN-i, or a current/savings account from another bank through FPX.
- For FPX funding, complete the authorisation process through the selected funding bank after being redirected to its login or payment confirmation page.
- Carefully review the displayed promotional rate, deposit product, tenor, funding source, designated CIMB account and maturity instructions before confirming the placement.
⚠️ Check the promotional rate before confirming. The campaign applies specifically to eFD and eFD-i (Maturity Returns). CIMB eFD-i (Monthly Returns) and eFD-i (Why Wait) are excluded. Selecting an ordinary fixed deposit route or an ineligible product may result in a different rate from the advertised campaign rate.
Important details about FPX and linked CIMB accounts
Using FPX allows eligible placements to be funded from a current or savings account at another bank. However, an eligible CIMB account is still necessary for the eFD/-i relationship and subsequent transactions.
- Designated CIMB account: A personal CIMB CASA/-i or DURIAN-i must be linked to the deposit even when funding comes from another bank. Only accounts permitted by CIMB can be selected. Joint accounts cannot be chosen as the withdrawal-crediting account for FPX placements.
- FPX limits and operating hours: The maximum transfer is subject to the lower of CIMB’s permitted limit or the funding bank’s applicable limit. CIMB Clicks FPX placement is unavailable daily from 12.00am to 6.00am and also depends on the funding bank’s online banking availability.
- FPX charges: CIMB does not charge a fee for eFD/eFD-i placements funded through FPX.
- Unsuccessful transactions: A status of Failed, Accepted for Processing or Pending Processing means the placement was unsuccessful under CIMB’s FPX FAQ. If money has already been deducted, the amount should be returned to the originating bank account within seven working days. Follow up with the funding bank if the refund is delayed.
- Interest/profit and withdrawals: Interest or profit is payable upon maturity and may be credited to the designated CIMB account or added to the principal according to the selected instructions. Withdrawals are credited to the designated CIMB account, not automatically to the original FPX funding bank.
💡 What happens when the fixed deposit matures?
The promotional rate applies for one placement cycle only. Upon maturity, CIMB’s terms provide for automatic renewal at the prevailing board rate or applicable staff rate for the same tenor, rather than the original promotional rate. Interest/profit may be credited to the designated CIMB account or added to the principal according to the selected maturity instructions. Review these instructions and the renewal rate before the deposit matures.
For placements approaching maturity, take note of the renewal rate and consider whether the prevailing return remains suitable for the next deposit cycle. The campaign rates also cannot be combined with other offers, promotional privileges or staff rates unless CIMB expressly permits otherwise.
🛡️ PIDM protection and other reminders
CIMB eFD/-i and eligible CIMB CASA/-i deposits are protected by Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM) up to RM250,000 for each depositor, subject to the applicable deposit insurance rules. However, DURIAN-i is not protected by PIDM. The distinction is particularly important when choosing a designated CIMB account or managing savings across different CIMB products.
The campaign is scheduled to end on 3 November 2026, inclusive. CIMB may revise campaign rates, requirements or the campaign period in accordance with its terms and applicable notices. Check the latest displayed promotional rate and official campaign conditions before making a placement.
